Robert Munsch’s book We Share Everything is a story about two elementary kids who take their teacher’s instructions to share everything so literally that it makes the teacher uncomfortable. Like most of Munsch’s books, it is a humorous tale based on a real like incident that has a moral lesson. Too often we take the words and lessons of Jesus to be no more weighty than the words of Munsch: real-life situations with moral lessons; but is that all that they are? As we continue our series “In Light of the Resurrection” we will examine what it means to live selflessly as we see the disciples transformed from people concerned about themselves to those willing to risk everything because of Jesus. Some might be uncomfortable because we are taking Jesus’ words too literally, but the reality is, in light of the resurrection, this is what it means to be the people of God.
