Gospel Power: Here and Now!

There are many past events that have an effect in the present or future. For example, the freedom we enjoy in our country is the result of over a million people willing to put their lives on the line to stop oppressive regimes during the World Wars. Each year, in response and memory, we pause on November 11 to remember those who were willing and continue to fight for freedom and against oppression. However, as good as it is to remember, if we stop living in light of this freedom by not participating in all that it means to live in such a country, the risk those soldiers took will be lost.
This Sunday in part 3 of our Gospel Story series we will be exploring the power of the gospel. Too often we think of Jesus’ death and resurrection (the gospel) as an event that happened in the past to rescue us from sin and give us eternal life in the future. However, the full story of the gospel is that it has the power to save right here and right now!
