Joshua 2:1, 8-24 “What is going on?” Analytical by nature, I tend to ask a lot of questions. Sometimes this is helpful and other times it can get me in to trouble. I experienced both of these outcomes while studying chapter 2 of Joshua. Why is a prostitute the central character in the narrative? Why do Joshua’s spies go to her? Did they avail themselves of her services? Why did Joshua send spies in the first place? Chapter 1 was pretty clear that God had given them the land, they believed this and they just needed to take it? And ultimately, what is going on here, why is this story important to the narrative? I look forward to gathering together with you as the people of God in this place to worship, in the words of Rahab, the Lord your God (who) is God in heaven above and on the earth below.
