Hebrews 10:1-18
Living and Practicing Forgiveness
There is a gap for all of us between what we say we believe and how we actually live. Sometimes that gap is caused by ignorance (we want to be or do a certain thing but just do not know how), other times it is a lack of self-awareness (we think we are doing what we say, but are really missing the point), and sometimes it is lack of integrity (we do not want to do what we say because the cost seems too high). As the writer of Hebrews continues to emphasize Jesus as the final and perfect High Priest, he stresses once again the absoluteness of Jesus’ sacrifice and our sin being forgiven, therefore, he says, “sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary.” Do we believe this? If so, what is the cause of the gap keeping us from truly living and practicing forgiveness?
