It is the story of the slave girl who proclaimed that Paul and Silas were sent by God. They cast the spirit out of her and they end up being tossed in prison because the owners are upset that she can’t predict the future anymore. An earthquake rocks the jail and the doors are broken up, but they do not escape. Rather they bear witness to the kingdom for the jailer and his family. The focus of the message will be a challenge on what it is that we truly believe about Jesus Christ and his mission - do we believe he has the power to free the slave? do we believe he has the power to rescue us? do we believe we can trust him with our very lives?
