What is really important? On what things should we stand our ground? When is the right time to fight and when should we wait or walk away? These are all challenging questions that will be answered based on our beliefs, fears, experiences and more. The early church faced many battles with the culture around them, so too did the Jewish community as it seemed that those who followed Jesus were blasphemers and corrupting the people of God. Their instinct was to fight and rid the world of this new faction but one of their top leaders had some wise counsel in the face of this new threat. In the face of different types of persecution and threats to what we hold dear, too often we can get caught in false battles that distract us from the mission before us. Let us join together this Sunday in worship and praise as together we seek the guidance of God to engage in His mission for the glory of His kingdom.
