1 Samuel 8:1-9 - “National Identity?” As Canada celebrates its 150th Anniversary many are donning red and white like never before. #Canada150 is everywhere as advertisers, the government and others try to cash in on celebrating what it means to be Canadian and the pride they think we should have in our country. It is true, we live in one of the best countries in the world and there is nowhere else I would rather live, but it is also true that we do have problems with and in our country, past and present. This Sunday we will continue our journey with the Israelites who, 200+ years after being rescued from Egypt, are once again very concerned about what it means to be a nation and have a national identity.
