James 2:1-13
All In or Not At All
I have a tendency, especially at the end of a long project, where I will begin to think, “this is good enough, I’ve done enough,” and often those thoughts lead how I finish the project. Inevitably, days, weeks, or months later I will then say to myself, “why didn’t I finish this project properly? Why did I decide to cut corners and just make it ‘good enough’?” As James encourages his readers, he also admonishes them telling them they need to be “all in.” There is no room to cut corners when following the law of God. As we examine the second chapter of James' letter, he continues to address the issue of the integrity between one’s thoughts and actions, between one’s heart and mind. Ultimately he is challenging them saying, “you need to be all in when following God, or you’re not really following Him at all.”
For those who are not out of town this May Long Weekend, I look forward to gathering together in worship of the one who has given us life to the full!
Peace and blessings,
Pastor Tyler
